Description

Mon Coeur is an enchanting, highly popular Japanese climbing shrub rose bred by Takunori Kimura in 2012. Universally loved for its outstanding disease resistance and nearly thornless stems, this vigorous variety stands out for its highly romantic, cherry blossom-like aesthetic.

Characteristics

  • Color: Delicate gradient of soft blush-pink outer petals embracing a deep rose-pink center.
  • Type: Upright Shrub / Short Climber featuring strong vigor and nearly thornless canes.
  • Fragrance: Medium to strong, blending Damask rose with fruity and powdery musk notes.
  • Bloom Size: Medium to large (3 to 4 inches wide) producing plump, upright-facing cupped rosettes.
  • Hardiness: USDA Zones 5–10.
  • Season: High-performing repeat-bloomer yielding continuous clusters from late spring through late autumn.

Perfect For

  • Trellises, fences, and arches since its flexible canes are easily trained as a short climber.
  • Low-maintenance gardens due to their superb resistance to black spot and overall easy-care nature.
  • Romantic floral bouquets because their sturdy stems carry upright, non-nodding flowers.

Care Tips

Plant in full sun and rich, well-draining soil, water deeply at the base to maintain consistent moisture, and prune back in late winter or early spring to shape the shrub and encourage vigorous repeat flowering.
