Description

Monica Bellucci is a glamorous, award-winning French Hybrid Tea shrub rose bred by Meilland in 2010. Dedicated to the iconic Italian actress, this standout variety is globally celebrated for its dramatic bicolor contrast, robust disease resistance, and exceptionally rich, exotic fragrance.

Characteristics

  • Color: High-contrast striking carmine-pink or rouge-pink on the inner petals with a luminous cream-white to butter-yellow reverse.
  • Type: Hybrid Tea Shrub featuring a strong, upright, and well-balanced habit with dense, dark green semi-glossy foliage.
  • Fragrance: Intensely powerful, boasting a rare, award-winning blend of clove, pepper, and star anise.
  • Bloom Size: Very large (4.5 to 5.5 inches wide) producing high-centered, elegant double cups packed with 40 to 50 thick petals.
  • Hardiness: USDA Zones 5–9.
  • Season: Prolific repeat-bloomer yielding continuous, abundant waves of long-stemmed flowers from May until the first autumn frost.

Perfect For

  • Sensory gardens and pathways where its unusual, highly diffusive spicy perfume can fill the open air.
  • Show-stopping floral arrangements due to its exceptionally sturdy stems, thick petals, and excellent 7- to 10-day vase life.
  • High-contrast borders or large patio pots because their bold colors pop beautifully against cream, blush, or deep purple companion plants.

Care Tips

Plant in full sun and rich, well-draining soil, water deeply at the base to maintain consistent moisture while keeping the foliage dry, and prune back by one-third in early spring to optimize air circulation and encourage heavy new flowering wood.
