Description

Robin is a magnificent Japanese shrub rose hybridized by Takunori Kimura and introduced in 2021. It is celebrated for its unique, sunset-like color transformation, strong multifaceted fragrance, and robust, reliable growth habit.

Characteristics

  • Color: A striking, dynamic shift; blooms open as a vibrant orange and gradually soften to a delicate, romantic apricot as they mature.
  • Type: Shrub Rose — grows as a vigorous, upright, and well-branched medium shrub.
  • Fragrance: Exceptionally strong and complex; a rich aroma featuring clear notes of fresh fruit, tea, and green foliage.
  • Bloom Size: Medium, featuring romantic, heavily layered cupped flowers with an exquisite texture.
  • Hardiness: USDA Zones 5–10.
  • Season: Excellent repeat-bloomer, producing abundant, continuous flushes of color from spring through autumn.

Perfect For

  • Containers and patio pots where its upright, well-behaved 4-to-5-foot frame can be appreciated up close.
  • Garden beds and borders serve as a highly structural and color-shifting landscape focal point.
  • Varied or unpredictable climates as its blooms are exceptionally heat and cold tolerant.

Care Tips

Plant in full sun with rich, well-draining soil. This variety offers outstanding natural disease resistance, particularly against black spots. Water deeply at the base when the top few inches of soil is dry, and prune in late winter to clean out weak wood and encourage fresh blooming canes.
