Description

Pas de Deux is a highly unique, captivating Japanese garden and cut shrub rose bred by the Imai Rose Garden in 2010. Highly regarded for its vigorous nature, this distinct variety is celebrated for its intensely full structure, rich color depth, and plush petal texture.

Characteristics

  • Color: Deep velvet crimson red to rich magenta pink with a fuzzy, plush texture.
  • Type: Japanese Shrub Rose featuring a fast-growing, vigorous habit with dense foliage.
  • Fragrance: Rich and strong, releasing a highly fragrant classic rose aroma.
  • Bloom Size: Medium to large (averaging 4 inches wide) forming a tightly packed, heavy cup.
  • Hardiness: USDA Zones 5–10.
  • Season: Highly floriferous repeat-bloomer that excels in warm weather but is sensitive to sudden cold.

Perfect For

  • Warm landscapes where high summer temperatures trigger a massive flowering output.
  • Stunning arrangements due to its thick, robust branches and long-lasting petal structure.
  • Collector gardens seeking highly stylized, tightly swirled rosettes that look completely unique.

Care Tips

Plant in full sun and rich, well-draining soil, water deeply at the base to support its heavy bud production and provide overhead shelter during downpours as the tightly packed petals are susceptible to rain damage and struggle to open in cold or wet environments.
