Description

The Dream Light rose (also known as Yume Akari) is an enchanting floribunda shrub rose bred by Hiroshi Ogawa in 2012 in Japan. Known for its watercolor-like visual transitions, this rose looks like an oil painting when fully open, producing heavily layered, rounded rosettes that change color beautifully in the sun.

Characteristics

  • Color: Emerges in delicate yellow-pink tones with a soft fluorescent glow, maturing into a pastel pink that develops striking red or peach edges in the sunlight.
  • Type: Japanese Floribunda / Shrub Rose — features tightly packed, highly branched clusters forming delicate cupped rosettes.
  • Fragrance: Moderate, highly unique mixed fruity, tea, and sweet myrrh scent.
  • Bloom Size: Medium to large, averaging 3 to 4 inches (8–10 cm) wide.
  • Hardiness: USDA Zones 6–10.
  • Season: Highly frequent and fast repeat-bloomer across multiple seasons.

Perfect For

  • Balconies, patios, and courtyard containers are due to their exceptionally compact and neat bush growth.
  • Soft, romantic cottage gardens looking for a luminous pastel color palette.
  • Delicate cut-flower arrangements, though its soft stems cause the heavy flower heads to nod charmingly.

Care Tips

Plant in full sun with rich, well-draining soil to maximize the color transformation of the petals. It features tough, dark green foliage that is highly resistant to blackspot and powdery mildew. Water deeply at the root zone, and provide slight support or staking if the heavily budding, slender branches begin to lean under the weight of the full blooms
